Legal & General expands pension risk transfer team with senior appointment

Legal & General’s Pension Risk Transfer business has appointed Matt Wilmington as Director of Strategic Transactions.

Matt will be leading on strategic longevity, buy-in and buy-out transactions, focussing particularly on our large multinational client relationships.

Matt joins us from Aon Hewitt where he undertook a variety of roles over a 15 year period, including being responsible for Aon Hewitt’s pension risk management work across markets outside the UK.

More recently, in his role as Partner in the Risk Settlement Group at Aon, Matt has led the advice for a number of UK based large-scale, complex de-risking transactions.

Matt’s experience in this sector will be a valuable addition to the team and further demonstrates Legal & General's commitment to be a global leader in pension risk transfer.

Matt Wilmington, Director of Strategic Transactions, at Legal & General said;

"I’m delighted to be joining Legal & General at a time when trustees and sponsors of defined benefit plans are increasingly focussed on strategic de-risking.  I’m confident that the strength and depth of the Pension Risk Transfer team will result in many innovative transactions being completed over the coming months and years, and I’m excited to be playing a part in that."
