-LegaCare (UK) Ltd is the first UK charity to provide free legal advice and support to patients diagnosed with life limiting or threatening illness
-Legal & General commits to continue funding and supporting the charity
Legal & General has today launched a pilot scheme offering 2 hours of free legal support to terminal and critical illness claimants. The scheme which will last for 3 months and is expected to help 30 claimants in the north-east will be run in conjunction with charity LegaCare (UK) Ltd.
Legal & General is also proud to announce the latest development in its funding partnership with LegaCare (UK) Ltd. Jennifer Turnbull has become the first solicitor to join the charity thanks to funding support from Legal & General. Jennifer has joined the north-east office and has already begun helping clients on a range of issues including guardianship of children, employment, housing, mortgage and debt problems as well as powers of attorney, advance care planning and will writing. So far Legal & General has committed £60,000 to the charity and has pledged to continue this support on an on-going basis.
LegaCare (UK) Ltd is the first UK charity to provide free legal advice and support to patients diagnosed with life limiting or threatening illness. The help they give is free to anybody in receipt of state benefits and / or earning less than £30,000 p/a. Clients must be referred by a health professional or Macmillan professional and can consult with experienced solicitors to resolve a range of legal issues that may be worrying them.
