Legal & General meets its customers at BBC Gardeners’ World Live in Birmingham

Retirement customers benefit from exclusive perks and client service support at top gardening show.

24 Jun 2019

Legal & General Retirement exhibited at BBC Gardeners’ World Live at the NEC in Birmingham 13-16 June.

The show, now in its 27th year, is one of the UK’s largest gardening shows in the UK and attracted more than 100,000 visitors over the course of the week.

Legal & General prides itself on the outstanding in-house customer service that it offers its customers, and it continually looks for opportunities to offer additional benefits to its Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) members and other retirement customers throughout the year.

This year, one of these added benefits was a discount on tickets to BBC Gardeners’ World Live and access to an exclusive Legal & General Retirement lounge.

Legal & General’s lounge, decorated with its iconic umbrellas, provided free tea and coffee to all Legal & General customers and their families, together with an opportunity for a well-earned rest after a hard day visiting the show. Over 700 customers visited and many took the opportunity to discuss in person, with the experienced client service team, specific questions about their Legal & General pensions and policies. They also had the chance to meet Gloria Hunniford, Dr Dawn Harper and Julia Bradbury who visited the Inspired Villages Group stand, partnered with the Legal & General Retirement lounge.

In addition, visitors could learn about the ‘Step Forward’ volunteer recruitment campaign being run by the Royal Voluntary Service (RVS). Legal & General has been supporting RVS since 2014.

This show follows a previous member event at the Inspired Villages Retirement Village in Great Alne Park where there were presentations about life in retirement and a chance to ask questions of the Legal & General client services team. The next member event will be held in September.

David Poulton, Head of Client Services, Legal & General Retirement Institutional: "To us, customer service is not about ticking a box – we value each and every one of our customers and like to offer them access to activities they might enjoy, as well as support with their retirement plans. The show was an excellent opportunity to meet and speak with some of our pension scheme members and customers and gain invaluable insight into their needs and how we can ensure we continue to support them. We also enjoyed meeting customers whose pension schemes have recently transferred to us to hear about their experiences so far of our quality customer care."
