Global Leaders Award for sustainability
Our head of corporate responsibility and ethics, Graham Precey, received the honour in Mumbai.
In Mumbai last week, Graham Precey (photo, right), Head of Corporate Responsibility and Ethics, was awarded a Global CSR Leaders Award for his eight years' work at Legal & General Group alongside 15 other individuals from companies around the world.
Judged by a diverse panel of experts from www.worldcsrday.com, the awards acknowledge the work of individuals who advocate for social change at both a national and global level.
Graham received the honour at the World CSR congress event on World CSR Day, 18 February as well as presenting to a conference of 1,500 attendees from over 130 countries on the positive social impacts in the UK and India of a FTSE 50 company.
Graham said: “It was an amazing event where business and NGOs were working together to solve some of the big macro issues which we will all have to contend with in the future. It was nice that our work at Legal & General to bring in not for profits into our work to improve people’s health, housing and later life needs with our products, services and investments has been singled out alongside some amazing work from other companies around the world”
Companies also winning global leadership awards included McDonnell Douglas, Arup, CapGemini and Johnson & Johnson.
Graham and the team from our joint venture www.indiafirstlife.com also spent time visiting the Mobile Medicare Van which provides over 3,000 prescription medicines a year to the older residents of Dharavi, home to over 50,000 people. In contrast it was great to see the micro finance solutions that IndiaFirst is offering an increasing number of people to take their families out of poverty.
