Sustainability goals

I believe we can only become a fully sustainable business if we embed responsible behaviour in everything we do.

Some of our key achievements in 2018 for me were:

Diversity

We made progress on our journey to improve gender diversity in our businesses and introduced some significant initiatives to support our LGBT+ and ethnic minority talent.

Not a Red Card

Our ‘Not A Red Card’ campaign plays a major part during Mental Health Awareness week in May. The aim is to remove the stigmas associated with mental health in the workplace.

Housing

We’re involved in delivering 80,000 new homes in the next five to ten years, creating housing of all tenures such as build-to-sell, build-to-rent, affordable housing and specialist housing for the elderly.

We highlighted the urgent need to limit global warming through our support for the UN sustainable development goals and the Taskforce for climate related carbon disclosure.

Clean energy

We increased our investments in renewable energy, through the development of wind and solar power, energy-efficient homes and innovative technologies to store energy.

Responsible investment

LGIM’s active engagement corporate governance team continued to engage with the largest global companies, both in the UK and US, on climate change issues. Our Future World investment fund enables investments to be made in environmentally responsible companies.
