#ShareTheOrange: a global success

The response to Legal & General’s support the launch of Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) second #ShareTheOrange campaign has managed to raise the awareness of dementia to millions of people around the world.

Thanks to a new film funded by Legal & General staring Bryan Cranston the acclaimed actor, writer and director, this has once again captured the essence of dementia is a way that everyone can understand. The campaign has managed to raise the awareness of dementia to millions of people around the world.

The latest video, behind the scenes of #ShareTheOrange, features Nigel Wilson talking about the need research along with Bryan Cranston and members of ARUK.

Highlights from this years’ #ShareTheOrange campaign include:

  • Ranked as the 37th most watched video on YouTube featuring Bryan Cranston*
  • 113 celebrities including Bill Gates, Aaron Paul, Tony Hawk, Lewis Hamilton and Sir Richard Branson shared the video to a combined audience of over 70 million*
  • Being shared by Bill Gates on his Facebook page resulted in 727,000 views* and 12,700 shares*
  • Sir Richard Branson’s share of the video on LinkedIn gained over 1 million views*
  • Over 18,000* tweets containing the #ShareTheOrange hashtag, has reached over 120 million users*
  • Video views on YouTube has reached over 1 million*
  • Hundreds of people sharing their own experiences of dementia on Instagram as a result of a teaser video posted by Bryan Cranston, which was viewed over 200,000* times
  • Hundreds of posts on Instagram have included the hashtag, reaching over 3.5 million* users.

For the past two years, Legal & General has been working with ARUK to help fund the ‘Dementia Explained’ project - a website that has been designed to help children and young people who were living with a parent or relative affected by dementia understand what it is and how it impacts the brain.
