Nigel Wilson Nigel Wilson
Group Chief Executive

Nigel was appointed group chief executive in 2012 having joined as group chief financial officer in 2009.

Nigel was senior independent director (SID) of The Capita Group plc from 2009 until 2012, and was SID/chairman of Halfords Group Plc from 2006 until 2011.

Previous appointments include: McKinsey & Co, (where clients included BP, Citibank, Cadbury, Santander, Kingfisher, Courtaulds, Whitbread and Globe Investment Trust). Group commercial director of Dixons Group Plc; managing director of Stanhope Properties Plc; chief executive, Corporate, Guinness Peat Aviation (G.P.A.); and managing director, Viridian Capital. Nigel was also deputy chief executive and chief financial officer at UBM. Nigel was appointed to the Prime Minister’s Business Advisory Group in 2015.

Qualifications include a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he was a Kennedy Scholar, and a recipient of the Alfred P Sloan research scholarship. He also worked at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).

Nigel has won numerous athletics championships including the 800m British Masters. He was also City AM “Business Personality of the Year” in 2014.

Following the premature death of Gene Gilbertson, CEO of Legal & General America, LGA will be led by Nigel.

Mark Gregory Mark Gregory
Chief Financial Officer

Skills and experience

Mark was appointed group chief financial officer on 1 July 2013. Mark was previously chief executive officer, Savings and joined the Board in January 2009. He joined Legal & General in 1998 and has held a variety of divisional finance director roles and served as group financial controller, communications and resources director, resources and international director and UK service operations director.

From 2006, he was managing director, With-Profits. Prior to joining Legal & General, he worked in senior financial and business development roles at companies including Kingfisher Plc and ASDA. He is a qualified chartered accountant.

Mark Zinkula Mark Zinkula
Chief Executive Officer, Legal & General Investment Management

Skills and experience

Mark was appointed to the Board in September 2012, having been appointed chief executive officer of Legal & General Investment Management in March 2011. Prior to that, he was CEO of Legal & General Investment Management America (LGIMA) since 2008 and played an integral part in the establishment and successful expansion of LGIMA.

Prior to joining LGIMA, Mark was at Aegon Asset Management where he was global head of fixed income.

Kerrigan Procter Kerrigan Procter
Managing Director, Legal & General Retirement

Skills and experience

Kerrigan has been managing director of Legal & General Retirement (LGR) at Legal & General since January 2013. He oversees an annuity business that provides a pension to 700,000 annuitants and invests over £30 billion of assets to back these liabilities. He was previously head of solutions at Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) from 2006 to 2012 where he was responsible for Liability Driven Investment and multi-asset funds for defined benefit and defined contribution pension schemes across Europe and the US.

Prior to joining Legal & General, Kerrigan worked at RBS in the financial markets division where he held several roles including head of pensions advisory, head of credit risk measurement and director of interest rate derivative structuring. Kerrigan started his career in 1994 with Ernst & Young Corporate Finance before moving to Mercer where he was both an investment consultant and responsible for ALM in Europe.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and has a PhD in number theory from King's College, London.

Paul Stanworth Paul Stanworth
Managing Director, Legal & General Capital

Skills and experience

Paul is Managing Director of Legal & General Capital (LGC), which is responsible for investing Legal & General’s capital. LGC was founded in 2013 to improve shareholders’ returns and accelerate L&G’s growth by increasing the business’s exposure to direct investments. LGC focuses on UK Housing, UK Infrastructure and SME Finance.

Paul joined L&G in 2009, responsible for investment strategy for the Annuity Funds, Treasury, With-Profits, Shareholder Funds and the International businesses. Paul had investment banking roles at Merrill Lynch, RBS and Deutsche Bank. His early career was in fund management at M&G, managing the corporate bond portfolios of the Prudential. Paul is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.

Cheryl Agius Cheryl Agius
Chief Executive Officer, General Insurance

Skills and experience

Cheryl Agius is CEO of the General Insurance business. Cheryl oversees the general insurance business that protects over 1.2 million customers in their lifestyle through household, pet and travel insurance and providing appropriate claims payments at the critical moments of need in our customers’ lives. Cheryl was previously Head of UK Strategic, Retirement Pension Risk Transfer where she was responsible for large Pension Risk Transfer transactions and solutions for defined benefit pension schemes and back book transactions. Prior to this UK role, Cheryl set up our US Retirement business securing our first landmark transaction for $430m in 2015. Cheryl joined L&G in 2011 having previously worked for over 20 years in the pensions and insurance industry. Cheryl is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.

Jackie Noakes Jackie Noakes
Managing Director, Savings

Skills and experience

Jackie was appointed managing director, Mature Savings in January 2015. She oversees an area which looks after over 1 million customers who have invested £29 billion of assets across individual pensions, bond or endowment products. Jackie also retains her role as Group IT director. She joined Legal & General in 2007 and has led a variety of shared services across the business including Group Procurement, Financial Reporting, IT and Facilities Management.

Prior to joining Legal & General, Jackie held senior IT roles at American Express and worked for Financial Services companies, including the Bank Of Ireland, Firemans Fund, Blue Cross & Blue Shield and Royal & Sun Alliance, living and working in Ireland, Sweden, Australia and America.

Bernie Hickman Bernie Hickman
Chief Executive Officer, Legal & General Insurance

Skills and experience

Bernie Hickman has recently been appointed as CEO of Legal & General Insurance (LGI), a newly formed division that will have over 7 million customers in the UK and US, providing life insurance, critical illness cover and income protection to individuals and company employees. LGI will combine Legal & General’s UK and US expertise, technology and insights, in order to grow our existing businesses and establish new digital insurance businesses in selected international markets.

Bernie joined Legal & General in 1998 from Commercial Union (now Aviva). Between 2005 and 2010 he was Managing Director, Retail Protection during which time he launched the UK Protection digital platform, OLP Connect, that provides market leading self-service functionality and high levels of straight through processing; UK protection, through organic growth, now has a market share of over 25%. He became CEO of Legal & General Home Finance and MD of Individual Retirement in 2014, where he launched its digital platform for lifetime mortgages achieving a 25% market share within the first year. He has also held the positions of Group Financial Controller, Investor Relations Director and Solvency II Managing Director.
