Our Environment

To reduce the environmental impact associated with our purchase of goods and services. (a) Ensure that compliance by key suppliers with the environmental requirements of the Group Purchasing Policy is maintained at 80% during the period 2005-7.
(b) Review procurement specifications for the environmental impact for key bought in goods and services — 80% of key contracts to be reviewed in period 2005-7
To reduce our carbon dioxide emissions per employee over the medium term. (a) Reduce our carbon dioxide emissions to 1.5 tonnes per FTE by end of 2008.
(b) Reduce the average C02 rating of the core company car fleet from 175 to 160 grams/km during the period 2005-7
To use resources efficiently and minimise waste. (a) Purchase paper with a recycled content of 30% (by tonnage) by end 2006.
(b) Send less than 80 kg of waste to landfill per FTE by end of 2007.

Socially Responsible Investment

Stakeholder Engage with FTSE 350 companies whose reporting on SEE risks and opportunities (both within the Annual Report and other CSR Reports) is rated as "limited" or below according to the ABI's SEE reporting guidelines.
Performance Achieve ISO 14001 accreditation for a further two directly managed properties.
Stakeholder Encourage investee companies to invite the Carbon Trust to carry out a free Energy Survey, in order to produce a practical action plan tailored to each organisation's needs and to consider implementing any useful recommendations.
