Stakeholder Engagement

We regard ongoing stakeholder engagement as fundamental to our environmental programme. Examples of engagement undertaken during 2005 include:

Customers: We undertook both quantitative and qualitative research to understand customers' views on environmental issues and their expectations of Legal & General.

Employees: Views are sought through local environment committees, which cover all our occupied properties. These are then fed back to our Group Environment Committee. (See also 'Making a Difference').

Investors: We have met with a number of analysts to discuss our CSR programme and reporting, as well as specific environmental initiatives.

Community: We support environmental initiatives in the areas surrounding our main offices. In 2005, we provided support to a number of organisations, including the Woodland Trust, Thames 21, the Orpheus Project, Porthkerry Community Woodland Project, and Sussex and Black Country Wildlife Trusts.
