Overseas Subsidiaries

Combined energy consumption data for the USA, France and the Netherlands is provided in the Group Environmental Performance table. These subsidiaries are not yet in full compliance with the Group Environment Policy, but report selected environmental data to the UK.

Management Systems

Legal & General maintains three separate environmental management systems. These seek to manage our significant environmental risks, ensure compliance with environmental legislation and improve our environmental performance. The EMSs within the following business functions are certified to the ISO 14001 standard:

  • Facilities management (all major UK office locations currently certified)
  • Procurement (Corporate Purchasing department only)
  • Investment Property (Property Management Services and two investment properties)

Legal Compliance

Legal & General Group Plc maintains internal management processes for monitoring compliance with the requirements of UK environmental legislation. We were not subject to prosecution in 2005 for non-compliance with environmental regulation.
